Food preparation and feeding the family is closely linked to care work, and traditionally a woman’s job. We collectivised women into a catering co-op: Trupti Nashta Ekam. Trupti runs cafeterias in 3 institutions in Ahmedabad, employing its women in the food sector. The women are involved in preparing and serving the food to staff in these institutions.
Trupti also produces typical Gujarati dry snacks and sweets. Made with the finest ingredients, these snacks are sold locally in Ahmedabad city.
We want to help Trupti grow! SEWA Federation is helping market and sell Trupti’s dry snacks to consumers. With increased market engagement, they cooperative will be able to employ more women, ensure higher incomes and sustainability.
