Livestock rearing is the second major source of livelihood in Gujarat. SEWA initiated this sector's activity in the rural areas of the State by organizing them. With sole focus being on finding alternative strategies for its members, in 1978, the Federation initiated its efforts to support Livestock Co-operatives in Gujarat.
The Federation offers its support on various technical, social and economical challenges faced by women in rural areas with livestock as their only primary income option. Currently SEWA Co-operative Federation has 65 women Dairy Co-operatives as its members in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Banaskantha (Gujarat).
